Hearing Specialist meeting a patient at home for a hearing test

Hearing Tests

We offer at home hearing tests in Tucson, Oro Valley, and the surrounding communities. A hearing test is the first step in determining what degree of hearing loss you have as well as what the best management option is. During the hearing test, we will assess how well you can hear different sounds at various frequencies as well as if you can recognize words in noise and quiet.

If while evaluating your hearing we discover something concerning, we will provide specialist recommendations.

Hearing Tests
in Southern Arizona

A hearing test is the first step in identifying hearing loss and finding the best management plan based on your individual needs. Tek Audiology offers at-home hearing tests in Tucson, Oro Valley, and the surrounding communities of Southern Arizona for adults of all ages. A hearing test will not only identify if a loss is present, but the type and degree as well.

What to Expect During the Hearing Test

Our hearing specialist will travel to your home or living facility to administer a comprehensive hearing test. During the test, we will assess how well you can hear different sounds at various frequencies and volumes in both noise and quiet. We have specialized mobile equipment that we will bring with us to expertly assess your hearing ability.

We will also perform a speech recognition test to determine how well you can hear words in noise and in quiet. A common indicator of hearing loss is difficulty recognizing certain words and syllables, so we will identify where exactly you are having trouble hearing. If while evaluating your hearing we discover something concerning, we will provide specialist recommendations.

Your Audiogram

The results of your hearing test will be recorded on an audiogram (a visual representation of your hearing loss). Our hearing specialist will go over in detail with you the exact degree of hearing loss you have (mild, moderate, moderately severe, severe or profound) and what your best options for management are.

If you have any questions at any point during the hearing exam, our hearing specialist is happy to answer them. Our goal is for you to feel comfortable and educated about your hearing needs. If an identifiable hearing loss is present, we will discuss what your best options are. There are many different types of hearing aids available and we will work with you to find the best fit for your lifestyle.
